What to expect
Art Therapy offers a shared space with the therapist to make sense of experiences and emotions through the process of art making. It is a way of communicating through images, materials art work and the process of making. Art Therapy can help us find new ways of coping and help us process life experiences.
“Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication. Within this context, art is not used as diagnostic tool but as a medium to address emotional issues which may be confusing and distressing”. BAAT 2020
Who is Art Therapy for?
Art Therapists work with a wide group of clients of any age including those with learning, neurological, physical, mental, and emotional difficulties. Clients include children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
Do I need to be good at Art?
There is no need to be ‘good at art’. Come with a willingness to play and explore the materials and process of creation. Art Therapy is non-judgmental, it is about the process of making and creating the artwork as well as the artwork itself. Art Therapists do not diagnose you or judge your art work.
