Georgina Sumner
Georgina Sumner is a visual artist and Art Therapist based in the North Cotswolds. Georgie has her own lived experience of neurodiversity. She enjoys doodling, playing, walking and creativity. Her art practice is inspired by nature and explores the unconscious mind through; doodles, play, poetry, found objects, nature and photography. She draws on a variety of creative approaches to line drawing including Winnicott’s squiggle drawings! Fun fact.. Georgie designed a weeble punch bag for play..
Art Practice and Art Therapy
Georgie developed her creative techniques and experience of art through arts in health charity Art Shape, a Gloucestershire-based initiative of arts courses and projects with a specific focus on disability issues and social inclusion. Through the Art Bridge program she completed her level 3 teaching adults in the community and creativity in social care and subsequent MA in Art Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales.
Before training as an Art Psychotherapist Georgie worked within a large corporation so has a good understanding of organisational dynamics!. She also has experience in museums and galleries including the Guggenheim Museum, Venice. Georgie is part of the @weareinterplay collective of Art Therapists responding creatively to each other.
